Ahmed Ellaithy is the founding director of the American University in Cairo’s Technology Transfer Office, where he manages the commercialization of university research outcomes from across all disciplines, but primarily from the school of science and engineering. In addition to overseeing the spinning out university technologies, Ellaithy manages deals on behalf of the university for further development of university innovations and raises awareness on campus among graduate students and faculty about technology development and commercialization to help maximize the positive impact of their research for the public good. Ellaithy served on several ministerial committees to expand the role of technology in economic development through university and research centers innovations in Egypt as well as an expert with a number of organizations such as the world intellectual property organization and Egypt2030. Ellaithy is a co-founder of Cairotronica, in charge of partnerships and strategy. Ellaithy is also actively engaged with the start-up community in the region and served as a mentor for a number of local accelerators and organizations and a panel judge for several major national & regional competitions, including NYUAD’s Hackathon, Google Ebda2 and Goldman Sachs 10,000 women.
